Slope Stabilization Applications of Gabion Mesh in Highway and Railway Engineering
Slope collapse and soil erosion are common safety hazards in highway and railway construction, seriously threatening traffic operation safety. Gabion mesh is widely used in road and railway slope protection and stabilization due to its reliable performance and convenient construction. Filled with graded stones, gabion mesh layers are laid on road cutting slopes and embankment slopes to form a stable protective layer that locks surface soil and prevents rainwater scouring and slope sliding. The flexible structure can adapt to slight slope deformation and foundation settlement caused by road operation and geological changes, avoiding the fracture and damage that often occur in rigid concrete protection layers. In addition, the porous mesh structure facilitates vegetation growth, gradually forming a composite protection system of stone structure and green vegetation, which not only stabilizes the slope but also beautifies the road landscape. With simple on-site assembly, no complex mechanical equipment required, and low construction cost, gabion mesh is a cost-efficient solution for traffic engineering slope protection.
